United States Improves to 3-0 in Davis Cup Group Action
Saturday’s Davis Cup Group Action saw the United States improve to 3-0 in their division after defeating second place Germany 2-1.
First up, Reilly Opelka used his big serve and forehand to defeat Henri Squire 7-6(4), 6-7(9), 6-3. Opelka, who is returning to competitive play after enduring two years of recovery after hip surgery, was a pivotal player in this week’s Davis Cup action.
Next up, inform Brandon Nakashima used his all-court game and calm demeanour to oust Maximilian Marterer 6-4, 6-2.
Nakashima, who is up to No. 40 in the world, will next see action during the Asian swing.
Team Germany scored their lone point of the tie after Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz defeated Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram 6-1, 7-6(4) in doubles action.
Elsewhere, Argentina will face Finland, Belgium will take on Brazil and France will go up against Czechia.
Sunday’s final day schedule will be highlighted by Spain vs. Australia, Italy vs. The Netherlands, Canada vs. Great Britain and Slovak Republic vs. Chile.
