Tsitsipas Claims Los Cabos Crown; Baez Wins Kitzbuhel Title; Griekspoor Reaches Washington Final

Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo—Los Cabos, Mexico

Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed his 10th career ATP Tour title on Saturday in Los Cabos, Mexico, dismissing Australian Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-4.

In match that lasted one hour and 26 minutes, Tsitsipas struck two aces, won 82 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions.

Winning his first title of 2023, Tsitsipas last won a title in Mallorca, Spain in 2022.

The Greek star will remain at No. 4 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released.

De Minaur, who remains one of the most feisty competitors on Tour, was aiming to win his second title of the year. The 24-year-old captured the title in Acapulco, Mexico in February.

The No. 5 seed will move up to No. 18 when Monday’s rankings are released.

Generali Open—Kitzbuhel, Austria

Argentine Sebastian Baez won his third career title and second of the year on Sunday in Saturday in Kitzbuhel, Austria, defeating hometown favourite Dominic Thiem 6-3, 6-1.

In a match that lasted one hour and 20 minutes, Baez won 79 percent of his first serve points and broke serve one four occasions.

Improving to 2-0 against Thiem in lifetime meetings, Baez also claimed the title in Cordoba, Argentina earlier this year.

Thiem, who was playing in his first final since winning this lone Major at the US Open in 2020, will move up to No. 89 in the world on Monday.

Baez will improve his ranking to No. 42 when the latest rankings are released.

Mubadala Citi DC Open—Washington, DC, U.S.A.

No. 12 seed Tallon Griekspoor upset top seed Taylor Fritz to reach his third final of the year on Saturday in Washington, D.C., upending the American 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Griekspoor will next face No. 9 seed Dan Evans for the title on Sunday. The Brit passed the tricky test of Grigor Dimitrov later in the day.

Sunday’s meeting will be the third between Griekspoor and Evans, with the Brit leading their head-to-head 2-0.
