About Danielle Collins:
Currently ranked top 40 in the world, Collins is one of the very few women on the tour that went and played in college prior to turning pro. While she started her collegiate career at University of Florida, it was upon her transfer to University of Virginia, where her tennis career began to blossom, winning NCAA singles title twice in 2014 and 2016 (Sophomore and Senior year). Collins finished her collegiate career as THE top ranked player in college, upon graduation in 2016.
Collins’ Grand Slam breakthrough came in 2019 at Australian Open, where she made the semifinals, also beating world #2 player, Angelique Kerber, 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. Recently this month, March 2021, Collins beats World#1 Ashleigh Barty, 6-3, 6-4 and reached the quarterfinals in Adelaide International Tennis Tournament.
