Thirty-Three Americans Set to Compete in the Singles Main Draws of the 2025 Australian Open
Thirty-three Americans (19 women, 14 men) are set to compete in the singles main draws of the Australian Open beginning this weekend in Melbourne, leading all nations in total main draw singles players. Play begins on Saturday night ET.
Americans have already had a successful start to the 2025 season, including:
- Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz led the U.S. to its second United Cup title in three years.
- Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys play each other tonight in the singles final of the WTA warm-up event in Adelaide, the fifth all-American WTA Tour singles final of this decade.
- Sebastian Korda and McCartney Kessler are also playing for tour-level singles titles in AO warm-up events tonight, Korda’s ninth ATP final appearance and Kessler’s second.
- Nineteen-year-old Nishesh Basavareddy became the youngest American to reach an ATP-level hard-court semifinal since 2016 (Reilly Opelka, Atlanta) this week in Auckland, where Tommy Paul also reached the semis to rise to No. 11 in the world.
- Six of the eight quarterfinalists at the WTA event in Auckland last week were American, including Robin Montgomery and Alycia Parks, who reached the semis.
