St. Petersburg Open—St. Petersburg, Russia
Top seed Dominic Thiem captured his 11th career ATP World Tour title and third of the season on Sunday in St. Petersburg, Russia, defeating Martin Klizan 6-3, 6-1.
Thiem, who most recently lost an epic five-set encounter to world No. 1 Rafael Nadal during the quarterfinals of the US Open, imposed himself early in the encounter against his lower-ranked opponent. Winning 86 percent of his first serve points and striking three aces, Thiem broke serve on four occasions and never lost his own delivery.
