WTA Finals—Singapore

Elina Svitolina won the biggest title of her career on Sunday at the WTA Finals in Singapore, defeating former US Open winner Sloane Stephens 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Overcoming the loss of the first set, Svitolina stormed back to win the final two sets in comfortable fashion. Needing two hours and 23 minutes to prevail, Svitolina struck two aces, won 65 percent of her first serve points and broke serve on six occasions.

Earning $2,360,000 for her victory, Svitolina also collected 1500 WTA points for her undefeated week.

Stephens, who was looking to claim her second title of the season, defeated Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber, Karolina Pliskova and Kiki Bertens during the event.

Swiss Indoors Basel—Basel, Switzerland

Top seed Roger Federer won his 99th career title on Sunday in his native Basel, Switzerland, defeating qualifier Marius Copil 7-6(5), 6-4. In a complicated match that took one hour and 34 minutes to complete, Federer progressed through a tough first set before finding himself down 0-3 in set two. Losing only two points on his first serve in the second set, Federer overcame 14 aces by Copil and hit six aces of his own.

Capturing his fourth title of the year, Federer will next head to the Rolex Paris Masters before competing in the ATP World Tour Final in London, England.

Playing in his second final of the season, Copil defeated No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.

Erste Bank Open 500—Vienna, Austria

No. 2 seed Kevin Anderson won 12th career title on the ATP World Tour on Sunday, dismissing No. 5 seed Kei Nishikori 6-3, 7-6(3) in Vienna, Austria.

Winning a very impressive 91 percent of his first serve points, Anderson broke serve on one occasion and never lost his own delivery. Continuing to produce world-class on a weekly basis, Anderson also qualified for the season-ending event in London with his win.

Nishikori, who is continuing to recover from an injury-plagued 2017 season, was playing in his third final of 2018\. The 28-year-old previously lost in the finals of Tokyo, Japan and Monte Carlo, Monaco earlier this year.
