Sinner, Sabalenka Win Cincinnati Open Titles
Monday’s championship day at the Cincinnati Open in Mason, Ohio featured top ranked Jannik Sinner and No. 3 seed Aryna Sabalenka taking home the titles.
First up, Sabalenka defeated inform American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-5.
Pegula, who won the National Bank Open in Toronto, Canada last week, was playing in her second straight Masters 1000 final.
Needing one hour and 15 minutes to prevail, Sabalenka struck 10 aces, won 91 percent of her first serve points and broke serve on three occasions.
Improving to 5-2 against Pegula in lifetime meetings, Sabalenka will now head to the US Open full of confidence to win her first title in New York City.

Sinner Completes US Open Preparation
On the men’s side, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner proved that his confidence is right on point after dismissing home-country favourite Frances Tiafoe.
Defeating the American 7-6(4), 6-2, Sinner hit 27 winners, won 11/14 points at the net and struck 13 aces. Improving to 4-1 against Tiafoe in career encounters, Sinner will now set his sights on winning his second Major of the season in Flushing Meadows.
The 23-year-old captured his maiden title in Australia back in January.
Tiafoe, who was playing in his first-ever Masters 1000 final, dismissed No. 15 seed Holger Rune in the semifinals.
Sinner, along with all of the top players in the world from the men’s and women’s Tour will now prepare for next week’s US Open.
The US Open is the year’s final Major event. The tournament takes place from August 26 – September 8, 2024.
Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff are the defending champions.
