Top seed Ben Shelton won his second career title Sunday in Houston, Texas, defeating follow American and defending champion Frances Tiafoe, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.
Shelton struck 11 aces against his speedy opponent during the two hours and 16 minute affair.
Improving to 2-0 against Tiafoe in lifetime meetings, Shelton will move up to at No. 14 in the world on Monday.
Tiafoe, who has been on a relative downward slide in this career, will be ranked No. 23 on Monday.
The 26-year-old three career titles.

GRAND PRIX HASSAN II—Marrakech, Morocco
Italian star Matteo Berrettini captured his eighth career title on Sunday in Marrakech, Morocco, defeating defending champion Roberto Carballes Baena 7-5, 6-2.
Returning to action after a long injury layoff, Berrettini used his famous serve and forehand to offset his diminutive opponent in one hour and 46 minutes.
Winning his first title since 2022 at Queen’s Club, Berrettini will move up to No. 84 when the latest rankings are released.
Carballes Baena, who was aiming to win his third career title, will be ranked No. 73 when the Monday’s rankings are updated.

MILLENNIUM ESTORIL OPEN—Estoril, Portugal
No. 2 seed Hubert Hurkacz claimed his eighth career title on Sunday in Estoril, Portugal, dispatching Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-4.
Slamming 15 aces, winning 83 percent of his first serve points and breaking serve on two occasions, Hurkacz improved to 19-8 on the year and will stay at No. 8 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released.
Martinez, who was playing in his third career final, defeated top seed Casper Ruud in the semifinals.
The Spaniard will be ranked No. 60 in the world on Monday.
