Shelton Reaches Mallorca Quarterfinals
Top seed Ben Shelton reached the quarterfinals of the Mallorca Open on Wednesday, defeating Rinky Hijikata 6-4, 6-0.
Shelton, who has had an up-and-down year on Tour, still possesses one of the biggest serves in the game. Slamming 13 aces, Shelton will next face Paul Jubb for a place in the semifinals.
Jubb ousted Adam Walton 6-0, 6-3 earlier in the day.
Other winners on Wednesday included Alejandro Tabilo and Jakub Mensik.
The Mallorca Open is held at the Mallorca Country Club and remains one of the favourite stops on the ATP Tour each season.

Boulter Advances in Eastbourne
Inform Brit Katie Boulter continued her fine form on the WTA Tour in 2024, defeating former French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 7-5 in Eastbourne on Wednesday.
Needing two hours and five minutes to advance, Boulter hit 10 aces, won 67 percent of her first serve points and broke the serve of her Latvian opponent on five occasions.
Advancing to the quarterfinals, Boulter will next face French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini for a place in the final four.
Other winners on the day included Madison Keys, Karolina Muchova, Leylah Fernandez and Harriet Dart.
On the men’s side, Max Purcell, Miomir Kecmanovic, Billy Harris, Yoshihito Nishioka and Juncheng Shang all progressed to the quarterfinals.
The Rothesay International is the final warm up event before next week’s Wimbledon Championships.
