Former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova will return to competitive tennis next week at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany. The Russian and five-time Major winner returns to the WTA after a 16 month ban for taking meldonium.
Sharapova was drawn to face former US Open finalist Roberta Vinci in the first-round. Sharapova remains suspended for the first half of the event and is eligible to begin playing as of Wednesday (April 26).
Angie Kerber, Karolina Pliskova, Dominika Cibulkova, Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, Agi Radwanska, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Vesnina are also featured in the star-studded event.
