Multiyear Partnership to Provide Nearly 12,700 Tennis Coaches in 125 Countries with Access to Sense Arena and its Groundbreaking VR Training Plans
TAMPA, Fla. and HILTON HEAD, S.C. (June 22, 2023) – Sense Arena, the world leader in cognitive virtual reality tennis training, has been named The Official Virtual Reality Training Tool of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), the leading global organization of tennis coaches.
The multiyear partnership will provide PTR’s nearly 12,700 tennis coaches across 125 countries access to Sense Arena, and the two organizations will collaborate on product development and strategy to continue to shape the future of VR tennis training for coaches and players.
In addition to creating co-branded, PTR-approved VR training programs and drills, which will feature voiceover instruction from PTR coaches, longtime tennis coach and PTR board member Oivind Sorvald, known for his technical and tactical expertise, will join the Sense Arena advisory board.
Sense Arena for Tennis, which launched in November 2022, allows players tosupplement their on-court training by using Sense Arena’s groundbreaking VR technology, which operates via the Meta Quest 2 and provides players with enhanced visualization tools geared towards improving the mental aspects of the game such as focus, reaction, and anticipation skills to help players make better decisions and improve their confidence.
“We are thrilled to partner with Sense Arena to provide our members with access to their cutting-edge VR technology,” said PTR Chief Operating Officer, Brian Parkkonen. “Technology is transforming the way players train, and it is important that coaches have an in-depth understanding of how VR can help players in their development.”
As a part of the partnership, educational content from Sense Arena will be featured on the PTR website and will also be incorporated into the curriculum for PTR’s Level 3 Performance Certification program. Sense Arena will also provide VR tennis training workshops for PTR coaches at all PTR National Conferences.
“We are excited to collaborate with PTR and the top tennis coaches in the world to help make Sense Arena’s tennis platform more widely available to the tennis community,” said Sense Arena Vice President of Tennis, Yannick Yoshizawa. “Our partnership with the PTR represents a vital step in our continued mission to make virtual reality training a core element of tennis development for players of all ages and abilities.”
Sense Arena’s tennis platform is backed by International Tennis Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova and is being used by some of today’s top players including Jennifer Brady, Jack Sock, Brenda and Linda Fruhvirtova, Miomir Kecmanovic, Emil Ruusuvuori, Liudmila Samsonova, Hunter Reese, Daria Saville, Luisa Stefani and more. The technology is also used by the University of South Florida men’s and women’s tennis teams, as well as the Junior Tennis Champions Center (College Park, Md.) and the SVB Tennis Academy (Zephyrhills, Fla.).
