In a late night finish due to rain throughout the day, No. 7 seed Elena Rybakina won the BNL d’Italia title in Rome, Italy after No. 30 seed Anhelina Kalinina was forced to retire down 6-4, 1-0.
Rybakina, who is the reigning Wimbledon champion, has proved that she can be a force on any surface.
Kalinina, who was playing in her biggest career final, defeated Madison Keys, Sofia Kenin and Veronika Kudermetova earlier in the event.
On the men’s side, No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev continued his stellar streak on the ATP Tour on Saturday, defeating No. 5 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5, 7-5 to reach his sixth final of the season.

Enduring multiple rain delays and one hour and 47 minutes to advance, Medvedev will next face No. 7 seed Holger Rune in Sunday’s final.
Rune ousted No. 4 seed Casper Ruud 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-2 earlier in the day.

Medvedev and Rune have played once on Tour, with the 20-year-old winning earlier this year at the Rolex Monte Carlos Masters event in Monaco.
