US Open—Flushing Meadows, New York
Norwegian Casper Ruud reached his first US Open semifinals on Tuesday in Flushing Meadows, New York, dispatching former semifinalist and No. 13 seed Matteo Berrettini 6-1, 6-4, 7-6(4).
Needing two hours and 35 minutes to prevail, Ruud used his world-class forward to great effect against his powerful opponent.
Improving to 4-2 lifetime against Berrettini in lifetime meetings, Ruud will next face either No. 23 seed Nick Kyrgios or No. 27 seed Karen Khachanov.
Ruud also made the finals of the French Open and Miami Open earlier this year.
Elsewhere, Tuesday’s action in New York will also feature No. 5 seed Ons Jabeur facing Ajla Tomljanovic and No. 12 seed Coco Gauff taking on inform French woman and No. 17 seed Caroline Garcia.
Wednesday’s action in New York will be highlighted by Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Aryna Sabalenka and Frances Tiafoe.
