Saturday’s semifinal action at the Rolex Shanghai Masters featured No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev and No. 16 seed Hubert Hurkacz advancing the Sunday’s show-piece final.
First up, Hurkacz needed one hour and 17 minutes to cruise past talented American Sebastien Korda, 6-3, 6-4. Slamming 14 aces, Hurkacz also hit 27 winners during his victory.
Improving to 2-1 against Korda in lifetime meetings, Hurkacz will look to win his seventh career title when he takes on Rublev next.
Rublev had an intense match in getting past No. 18 seed Grigor Dimitrov, 7-6(7), 6-3. In a match that lasted one hour and 50 minutes, Rublev struck 25 winners and won 74 percent of his first serve points.
Rublev and Hurkacz have met on four occasions, with both players winning on two occasions.
