Friday’s action at the Rolex Shanghai Masters featured No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev and No. 18 seed Grigor Dimitrov advancing to the semifinals.
First up, Dimtirov required two sets to oust No. 22 seed Nicolas Jarry. Needing one hour and 39 minutes to advance, Dimitrov struck 11 aces and 19 winners.
The 32-year-old Bulgarian will next face Rublev for a place in Sunday’s finals. The fifth seed poured in a master-class performance to defeat No. 32 seed Ugo Humbert 6-2, 6-3.
Rublev, who won the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters earlier this year, has a 3-3 head-to-head record with Dimitrov.
Saturday’s action in Shanghai will also highlight the men’s second semifinal between No. 16 seed Hubert Hurkacz and No. 26 seed Sebastian Korda.
