Good things come to those who wait, and for the Nike faithful out there that have been eagerly anticipating the evolution of the Nike Zoom Vapor series since the departure of Roger Federer and the legendary Vapor 9’s and Vapor 9.5’s, they will be pleasantly surprised with the all-new Zoom Vapor Pro 2 for 2023.
To begin, the Vapor Pro 2 requires no break-in period and fits true-to-size just like the Vapor Pro. A noticeable difference right from the get-go is the Air Zoom unit that has been added to the forefoot.
Spoiling Nike fans with the Vapor Pro 2 and the Vapor 11 this season, The American sports giant has really elevated its standard of brining forth comfortable, yet ultra functional footwear.
The Vapor Pro 2 does appear to have a higher ankle collar over the Vapor Pro and continues to have a relatively small toe box. That said, there’s still a tremendous amount of support toward all the demanding movements on court, aided by the padded ankle collar, which has always been a welcome edition to the Vapor collection.
One knock that can be noted on this model is that although the laces are plush and sturdy, they simply aren’t long enough for consistent, easy lacing. I’m not sure why Nike does not address this issue, especially if a player is using the full lacing system.
Aesthetically, the Vapor Pro 2 doesn’t look as sleek as the Vapor Pro, and it definitely does look better in solid, uniform colour. The giant swoosh is a welcome feature to the side of the silhouette, as it will add a nice brand pop on photos for any level of player.
Other notable improvements to the Vapor Pro 2 see the latest model boast a stretchy internal sleeve and mesh for 2 layers of support, which in tern add to more breathability. The new asymmetrical lacing system hugs your feet during lateral and horizontal movements.
As mentioned the Air Zoom unit in the forefoot is a great welcome addition and adds to the overall responsiveness when moving at a high pace.
The Outsole consists of a herringbone tread pattern for a good balance on any type of hard or clay court.
Available in a multitude of colour-ways during the 2023 season for both women and men, the Vapor Pro 2 is already the choice of footwear for reigning US Open winner Carlos Alcaraz.
Retailing for $120 USD, the Nike Zoom Vapor 2 can be purchased at the following TennisWarehouse and TennisWarehouse-Europe links.
