Reviewing the 2021 Yonex VCORE 98 and VCORE 100

Sponsoring the likes of Stan Wawrinka (SUI), Naomi Osaka (JPN), Denis Shapovalov (CAN),  and Angelique Kerber (GER), Yonex’s all-new VCORE line continues to provide world-class racquets for players of any level.

Lots to Love about the Yonex VCORE 98 and 100

Players that have always looked for a spin-friendly frame, but want to focus on control and comfort will love the latest iteration of the Yonex VCORE 98 and 100 for 2021.

Dropping in at 11.4oz strung weight, the Yonex VCORE 98 provided an immense amount of spin on ground-strokes and serves, with a slightly stiffer beam than its predecessor. By contrast, VCORE 100 came in with a strung weight of 11.3oz and provided even more spin, due in large part to its larger sweet spot and head size.

Feeling Better

Racquet “feel” has always been one of the strong suits of Yonex frames, and the all-new VCORE 98 provided a tremendous amount of balance and stability on a variety of different shots. From returns, to backhands and volleys at net, the VCORE 98 allowed for great racquet-head-speed when accelerating or decelerating our swings. Effortless power was created time and time again, courtesy in large part to the new Flex Force technology that provides great flexibility at contact. Subsequently, the VCORE 100 featured similar feel to the 98 version, but allowed for even better feel at net and on returns. The VCORE 100 also felt reliable on slice backhands, and achieved easy depth from the baseline.

Not to be outdone, the VCORE 98 also granted effortless depth of shot on a multitude of strokes. From rallying cross-court to hitting down-the-line, changing the direction of the ball was made easy with the VCORE 98.

Perhaps the lone knock on these racquets was the relative lack of power that was created because of the low NR rating of 66. That said, advanced players that have high swing speeds will be able to receive the power quotient that they desire as a result of their level of play with the VCORE 98. The 100 version was packed with more firepower overall, but it should still be classified as a frame for those players that are looking to add consistency to their arsenal.

Variety of Racquets

Featuring a 16×19 string pattern in both models, and a 325 swing weight in 98 model and a 324 swing weight in the 100 version, the Yonex VCORE 98 and the VCORE 100 are now available in speciality stores world-wide for a price of $239 USD. Along with the VCORE 98, and the VCORE 100, the latest VCORE line also features the VCORE 95, VCORE 98L and the VCORE 100 L.
