Rio Open presented by Claro—Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
No. 2 seed Cameron Norrie captured his fifth ATP Tour title on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, dispatching No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.
Defeating the Spaniard for the second time in his career, Norrie avenged a loss to the 19-year-old in last week’s Buenos Aires final. Moving up to No. 12 in the world, Norrie needed two hours and 41 minutes to prevail.
Visiably injured throughout the final set, Alcaraz is still slated to next see action in Acapulco, Mexico next week as the top seed.
Norrie, who remains one of the most consistent players on Tour, reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon last year.
