Mpetshi Perricard Looks for Semifinal Birth at Winston-Salem Open

Thursday’s ATP Tour and WTA Results and Previews

Hard-serving Frenchman and world No. 39 Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will look to reach the semifinals of the Winston-Salem Open on Thursday. 

Having a poor year by his standards, Mpetshi Perricard stands at 12-17 on the season. He has two career titles and hit a career high of No. 29 in the world earlier this season.

Other players that will be featured today in North Carolina will see No. 11 Sebastian Korda, No. 12 seed Jaume Munar, Botic van de Zandschulp and Yunchaokete Bu in action.

Munar defeated defending champion Lorenzo Sonego in three sets on Wednesday.

Tennis in the Land—Cleveland, Ohio

Thursday’s action in Cleveland, Ohio will see the resumption of Wednesday’s suspended round of 16 matches due to rain. 

In quarterfinal action this evening, top seed Liudmila Samsonova will take on Sorana Cirstea for a place in the final four.

Round of 16 matches that will resume will see No. 2 seed Wang Xinyu, American Ann Li and Elsa Jacquemot from France back on court.

The 500 level event in Monterrey, Mexico will feature quarterfinal action on Thursday.

Taking out top seed Emma Navarro on Wednesday, American Alycia Parks returns on Thursday to face Rebecca Sramkova from Slovakia.

Sramkova ousted two-time former winner Leylah Fernandez in three sets on Wednesday.

Other players featured on Thursday in Monterrey will be No. 3 seed Diana Shnaider taking on No. 5 seed Elise Mertens, No. 2 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova facing Linda Noskova, and Antonia Ruzic going up against Marie Bouzkova from the Czech Republic.
