Known for its great weather and nightlife, Miami has always been a favourite stop on the pro Tour.
With the 2025 edition of the Miami Open on deck at the Hard Rock Stadium in downtown Miami, the game’s best men’s and women’s players will be looking for valuable points and the shot at another prestigious title.
Alcaraz and Djokovic Headline Miami
With world No. 1 Jannik Sinner sidelined with a doping suspension until the Rome Masters, four-time Major winner Carlos Alcaraz and legendary Serb Novak Djokovic will lead the 96 player from March 16-30, 2025.
Alcaraz, who won the title in 2022, will be looking for another chance to inch closer to the No. 1 ranking in the world.
Six-time former winner Djokovic will also be the talk of the two-week event. Turning 38 later this Spring, Djokovic could be playing in Miami for the final time in his career. The legendary Serb last won in Miami in 2016. A stretch where he won the tournament five times in six years.
Other players to watch out for under the Florida sunshine will include top seed Alexander Zverev, US Open finalist Taylor Fritz, and fan-favourite Tommy Paul.
The most exciting up-and-comer of this year’s event will undoubtedly be Joao Fonesca. The Brazilian has already won a title this year and will have the Latin fans on the edge of their seats during his matches.
A Hard-Court Affair
Known as the most neutral surface on the Tour, the hard-courts of North America will once against host the top stars of the WTA in the middle of Miami.
World No. 1 and three-time Major winner Aryna Sabalenka returns with hopes of winning her first-title in South Florida. The Belorussian is great on hard-courts and will be one of the clear favourites to raise the title.
Former winner Iga Swiatek will also be ready to kick-start her season ahead of the clay-court swing. The Polish star, who owns five Majors, continues to be a tough competitor on any surface.
American players to watch-out for in Miami will include defending champion Danielle Collins, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Emma Navarro and Amanda Anisamova.
The Miami Open remains one of the most high-profile events of the season and concludes an action-packed month of tennis in March. Following the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, the Miami Open will continue to test the game’s greatest stars as they look to wrap up their hard-court tennis until the Summer swing in North America.
