VIENNA, AUSTRIA (February 23, 2023) – waterdrop®, a pioneer in hydration and beverage-tech, today announces that it is the Official Hydration Partner and Gold Partner of the 2023 ATP Tour. ATP is proud to announce a new multi-year partnership with the fast-growing Austrian hydration brand. In order to increase the sustainable hydration solutions in the professional tennis industry, the partnership will entail the launch of innovative on-court hydration benches, hydration products for players and staff, and involvement with ATP’s medical team.
The partnership will promote waterdrop®’ and ATP’s mission to provide sustainable hydration throughout the 2023 ATP Tour across the world. waterdrop® will supply players, staff, and volunteers with its signature reusable and durable bottles – allowing a significant decrease in plastic bottle usage during the season.
With a mission to encourage people to Drink More Water, waterdrop® is committed to helping customers live a healthier, longer and more sustainable life. The first-of-its-kind dissolvable, sugar-free cubes, Microdrinks, are packed with fruit and plant extracts that focus on different aspects of wellness; from replicating teas and relaxation beverages to now, sports drinks. The reusable water bottles and innovative smart water filtration systems are designed to eliminate plastic bottle usage while increasing hydration. In fact, 30 million plastic bottles alone have been saved through waterdrop® products.
waterdrop® will also introduce innovative on-court hydration benches for players, as well as hydration stations for fans at each ATP Tour event. Fans will have the chance to experience the brand’s exciting range of products and flavors, and pick up their own reusable bottle design used by their favorite tennis professionals themselves. With more than five million fans attending each season, this partnership will form an integral pillar of the ATP’s drive to reduce its environmental impact under ATP Serves.
“We are thrilled to welcome waterdrop® to the ATP Tour’s global family of partners,” said Daniele Sanò, ATP Chief Business Officer. “Sustainability is something our players, tournaments and fans care deeply about. We’ve set ambitious targets and it’s great to have a passionate brand like waterdrop® support us on that journey. We’re excited to provide the tennis community with the most sustainable hydration products possible.”
“Shaking up the beverage industry is not only necessary, it’s a real ecological emergency. We strongly believe that the values and commitments already shown by the tennis world are a great match with our vision. This new journey with ATP is the beginning of a major and profound transformation. Reducing our plastic use and unnecessary CO2 emissions are steps we must all take. We are thrilled to see the best tennis players in the world using our bottles and hydration benches. It’s an important symbol for this ongoing profound change in the industry,” said Martin Murray, CEO & founder of waterdrop®.
In addition, waterdrop® has engaged superstar pro tennis players Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, and Danielle Collins as ambassadors to further promote the brand’s mission and storytelling within the sports and tennis sector. Throughout the Tour, waterdrop® will collaborate with the ATP medical team to further provide optimal hydration to all participating players.
“Drinking enough water is key for a healthy lifestyle and our performance as athletes. However, this does not have to come at the expense of the environment,” said Taylor Fritz. “It’s great to see our sport taking the right steps in that direction. I believe that by working together we can make real progress towards eliminating plastic on Tour”.
waterdrop®’s journey with the ATP kicked off with its presence at the 2023 Delray Beach Open (Florida), Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes (Lyon), and Open 13 Provence (Marseille) and will continue during the Hamburg European Open, Citi Open (Washington) and Winston-Salem Open and Moselle Open (Metz) this summer.
