No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev captured his third straight title on the ATP Tour on Saturday, defeating defending champion No. 2 seed Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-2 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
Needing one hour and eight minutes to prevail, Medvedev struck nine aces, won 83 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions. Never facing a breakpoint against his countryman, Medvedev improved to 5-2 against Rublev in lifetime meetings.
Recently winning titles in Doha, Qatar and Rotterdam, Netherlands, Medvedev now owns 18 career titles. The 27-year-old will be ranked No. 6 in the world on Monday.
Rublev, who was attempting to claim his 13th career title, recently reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Australian Alex de Minaur captured the biggest title of his career on Saturday in Acapulco, Mexico, dispatching American Tommy Paul 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Overcoming the loss of the first set, de Minaur struck two aces, won 81 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions. Notching his seventh career title, de Minaur will be ranked No. 18 in the world on Monday
Dismissing compatriot Taylor Fritz in a gruelling semifinal contest on Friday, Paul will now be ranked No. 19 on Monday.
De Minaur, who is known as one of the feistiest players on the circuit, will now head to Indian Wells, California, to participate in the first Masters 1000 event of the season.
