Top seed Daniil Medvedev captured his 10th career title on the ATP Tour on Sunday, defeating Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4 in Marseille, France. Needing two hour and 10 minutes to claim the title, Medvedev struck 13 aces, withstood 10 from his opponent, and broke serve on three occasions.
Improving to 2-1 against Herbert in lifetime meetings, Medvedev will move up to No. 2 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released. The Russian recently lost in the finals of the Australian Open to Novak Djokovic.
Herbert, who was in search of his first career title, fell to 0-4 in championship matches. He’s currently ranked No. 75 in the world after reaching this week’s final.

Local hero and top seed Cristian Garin collected his fifth career title on the ATP Tour on Sunday, dismissing Argentine Facundo Bagnis 6-4, 6-7(3), 7-5. In a match that lasted two hours and 36 minutes, Garin won 71 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions.
Winning all of his previous titles on clay, Garin will see his ranking improve to No. 20 when Monday’s rankings are released.
Bagnis, who is currently ranked No. 118, defeated Frances Tiafoe and Marco Cecchinato earlier in the event.
