Krejcikova Ousts Pegula at WTA Finals; Rublev Advances in Metz
Tuesday’s results at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia featured Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova pick up her first win at the event, defeating US Open finalist Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-3.
Needing one hour and nine minutes to advance, Krejcikova hit 11 aces, won 75 percent of her first serve points and broke her American opponent on four occasions.
Standing at 1-1 in this week’s competition, Krejcikova will next face Coco Gauff on Thursday. Gauff will take on five-time Major winner Iga Swiatek later today.
Wednesday’s action will feature top seed Aryna Sabalenka vs. No. 5 seed Elena Rybakina and No. 4 seed Jasmine Paolini taking on No. 7 seed Qinwen Zheng.

Moselle Open—Metz, France
Top seed Andrey Rublev—fresh off of qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy—raced into the quarterfinals of the event in Metz, France on Tuesday, defeating Lorenzo Sonego 7-6(3), 7-5.
Needing one hour and 52 minutes to advance, Rublev hit 40 winners, broke serve on one occasions and won 76 percent of his first serve points.
Currently ranked No. 9 in the world, Rublev will next face No. 7 seed Jan-Lennard Struff or Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
Other winners on the day saw Zizou Bergs take out Manuel Guinard 6-4, 6-4.
Belgrade Open Results
Tuesday’s action at the Belgrade Open in Serbia saw home-country hero Hamad Medjedovic advance to the quarterfinals, defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic 7-6(5), 6-4.
Medjedovic will next face No. 3 seed Francisco Cerundolo or Russian Roman Safiullin. Safiullin dismissed Fabio Fognini earlier in the day in first round action, 6-3, 6-3.
Qualifier Lukas Klein reached the quarterfinals after he dismissed No. 7 seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-4, 7-6(6).
Top seed Alex de Minaur withdrew after he qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy. Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic had qualified for the event but withdrew with an ongoing knee injury.
The Serb’s end to the season allowed de Minaur safe passage into the Tour Finale.
