Korda Reaches Libema Open Semifinals
Talented American Sebastian Korda aced his way into the semifinals of the Libema Open on Friday, defeating compatriot Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-2.
Needing one hour and seven minutes to advance, Korda struck two aces, won 84 percent of his first serve points and broke the No. 2 seed’s serve on four occasions.
Improving to 4-1 against Paul in lifetime meetings, Korda will next face Tallon Griekspoor for a place in the finals. Griekspoor defeated Aleksandar Vukic later in the day.
The day’s premier match at the Libema Open will feature two former Grand Slam champions.
Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and US Open winner Bianca Andresscu will contest their second career match later today.
Osaka, who has returned to the Tour this year after giving birth to her first child in 2023, has seen a steady increase in her level of play since January. Andresscu, who has had a slew of injuries over the past year, recently made the third round of the French Open.
Boulter Reaches Semifinals at Nottingham Open
British favourite Katie Boulter took one step further in defending her title in Nottingham on Friday, defeating Magdalena Frech 6-2, 6-4.
Boulter will next face Emma Raducanu or Francesca Jones in an all-British semifinals.
Berrettini Powers Through in Stuttgart
Two-time former winner Matteo Berrettini advanced to the semifinals of the BOSS OPEN on Friday, ousting James Duckworth 6-4, 7-5.
Hammering 13 aces and breaking serve on two occasions, Berrettini will next face either Alexander Bublik or Lorenzo Musetti.
Other winners on the day included Brandon Nakashima and Jack Draper. Nakashima advanced when Jan Lennard Struff withdrew due to illness, and Draper moved on after dismissing defending champion Frances Tiafoe 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(1).
