Jarry Wins Geneva Open; Fils Claims Lyon Open

Gonet Geneva Open—Geneva, Switzerland

Chilean Nicolas Jarry captured second title of the season on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland, dispatching No. 4 seed Grigor Dimitrov 7-6(1), 6-1.

Winning the title in Santiago, Chile earlier this year, Jarry fought through a tough opening set before breezing past his Bulgarian opponent.

Jarry will be ranked No. 35 in the world on Monday an Dimitrov will move up to No. 29 as a result of his finalist appearance.

Dimitrov had not reached a final on Tour since Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2018.

Open Parc Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes Lyon—Lyon, France

Unheralded Frenchman Arthur Fils claimed his first career title in Lyon, France on Saturday, dismissing No. 4 seed Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 7-5.

Needing one hour and 37 minutes to win his title, Fils struck two aces, won 72 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions.

Entering the event ranked No. 112 in the world, the 18-year-old will be ranked No. 63 on Monday.

Fils debated Brandon Nakashima in the semifinals, and received a walkover over top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.

Cerundolo, who will be ranked No. 27 in the world, was aiming to win his second career title.

Tickets for this year’s French Open can be purchased through P1 Travel.
