No. 16 seed Hubert Hurkacz captured the Rolex Shanghai Masters title on Sunday in China over No. 5 seed Rublev.
Needing two hours and six minutes to seal his 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(8) victory, Hurkacz struck 21 aces, won 81 percent of his first serve points and hit 44 total winners.
Recording his seventh title as a Tour professional, Hurkacz improved his ranking to No. 11 in the world.
Rublev, who was searching for his second Masters 1000 title of the season, defeated Tommy Paul and Grigor Dimitrov earlier in the event. The 25-year-old will move up to No. 5 in the world on Monday.
