Nitto ATP Finals—Turin, Italy
Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic claimed his sixth ATP Finals title on Sunday in Turin, Italy, defeating No. 3 seed Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-3.
Needing one hour and 33 minutes to seal his victory, Djokovic struck nine aces, won 85 percent of his first serve points, never faced a break point and completed his stellar performance with 31 winners.
Improving to 3-0 against Ruud in lifetime meetings, Djokovic also collected a record $4,740,300 in prize money by finishing the event undefeated.
The Serb ends 2022 with five titles and will head into 2023 as the No. 5 ranked player.
Ruud, who was attempting to capture the biggest title of his career, also reached the finals of the French Open and US Open earlier this season. The 23-year is currently ranked No. 3 in the world.
