Fonseca Wins 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals Title Over Tien

Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF—Saudi Arabia—Brazilian phenom Joao Fonseca capped off an impressive week of action in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, defeating American Learner Tien to capture his first-ever Next Gen ATP Finals Title.
Recording a 2-4, 4-3(8), 4-0, 4-2 scoreline, Fonseca struck 19 winners, hit eight aces and broke the serve of his opponent on three occasions.
Needing one hour and 27 minutes to seal his victory, Fonseca took home $526,000 for his victory on Sunday.
Not turning 19 until August of 2025, Fonseca, will end the year ranked No. 145. He defeated top seed Arthur Fils, No. 3 Jakub Mensik and No. 6 seed Luca Van Assche earlier this week.
Tien, who is currently ranked No. 122 in the world, ousted top seed Fils, No. 2 seed Alex Michelsen and No. 3 seed Mensik en-route to the finals. Tien had recorded a 3-2 Tour level record in 2024. He is currently 19-years-old.
