(FILA North America – May 18, 2022) FILA announced today that it has reached a sponsorship agreement with WTA World No.2 Barbora Krejcikova. The Grand Slam Champion – who previously has also reached the World No. 1 ranking in doubles – will join the company’s roster of endorsed athletes who wear the FILA® brand on court.
Krejcikova, 26, is one of the WTA Tour’s brightest stars after an outstanding 2021 season that saw her capture three singles titles at Strasbourg, Prague, and most notably, her first major in Paris. The Paris triumph was Krejcikova’s first career singles Grand Slam title, making her the first Czech woman to win the title since Hana Mandilkova in 1981. In addition, Krejcikova also captured the Paris doubles title alongside partner Katerina Siniakova, capping off a clean sweep at the year’s second major tournament. Krejcikova also registered her first career singles appearance at the Akron WTA Finals Guadalajara and closed out the year by earning two of the WTA Tour’s season-ending awards: Doubles Team of the Year (with Siniakova) and Most Improved Player. Krejcikova has continued her dominant form into 2022, collecting the Australian Open doubles title alongside Siniakova this past January.
A former World No.1 in doubles, Krejcikova has 11 career WTA doubles titles to her name, boasting a total of seven Grand Slam victories – four Grand Slam women’s doubles titles (all with Siniakova) and three mixed doubles titles (with Rajeev Ram, Nikola Mektic). She also captured the Gold Medal in women’s doubles in Tokyo (with Siniakova).
“It is an honor to step onto the court and represent a brand with such an iconic history in the game,” said Barbora Krejcikova. “I am grateful to FILA for the support and the opportunity to join the elite group of athletes who have worn the brand. I look forward to working together as I take my career to the next level.”
“Barbora has made incredible strides to elevate her game over the last few seasons,” said Gene Yoon, Global Chairman at FILA. “Her rise to a top 5 ranked player in singles and doubles has been both impressive and inspiring, as she has worked to cement herself among the WTA’s top stars. We are thrilled to welcome Barbora to the FILA family, as we continue our legacy of sponsoring champions on and off the court.”
Krejcikova will make her FILA debut as the defending champion at Paris, sporting the brand’s new Center Court Collection.
