Wimbledon—London, England
Top seed Novak Djokovic won his sixth Wimbledon title on Sunday at The All England Club in London, England, defeating Matteo Berrettini 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
After dropping the first set to his hard-hitting opponent, Djokovic broke serve to start the second set and never looked back. Continuing to mix in serve-and-volley play with his well-known baseline arsenal, Djokovic won 79 percent of his first serve points, broke serve on six occasions and added 31 winners to his impressive victory.
Defeating Berrettini during the quarterfinals of the French Open, Djokovic will now head to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, before travelling to New York for his quest to complete the calendar year Grand Slam.
Berrettini, who was aiming to his first Major, has had a great season on grass. Winning the title at Queen’s Club, the 25-year-old Italian will move up to No. 8 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released.
