Nitto ATP Finals—Turin, Italy
Top seed Novak Djokovic and home-country favourite Jannik Sinner posted opening match victories at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy on Sunday.
First up, Sinner used his potent ground game and improved serve to oust No. 6 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-3.
Sinner, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the world, hit 21 winners and broke the serve of his Greek opponent on two occasions.
During the evening session, world No. 1 Djokovic continued to show the tennis world why he is undoubtedly the best player on the planet.
Needing three hours and four minutes to seal his 7-6(4), 6-7(1), 6-3 victory over No. 8 seed Holger Rune, Djokovic poured in 10 aces and won 74 percent of his first serve points.
Djokovic and Sinner will next see action on Tuesday.
Monday’s action at the ATP Finals will feature No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz taking on No. 7 seed Alexander Zverev and No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev facing good friend and No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev.
