Friday’s action at Roland Garros saw top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic ease into the fourth round of the tournament after he defeated Aljaz Bedene 6-3, 6-3, 6-2. The top ranked Serb will next face Diego Schwartzman, who dismissed Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.
Elsewhere, 13-time winner Rafael Nadal dispatched Botic Van de Zandschulp in three routine sets, and will next face Felix Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian reached the fourth round after eliminating Filip Krajinovic 7-6(3), 7-6(2), 7-5. Teen phenom Carlos Alcaraz played the night cap and electrified the crowd by downing Sebastian Korda 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.
On the women’s side, Canadian Leylah Fernandez had an impressive win over Belina Bencic 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, while Amanda Anisamova and Coco Gauff were also victorious.
Saturday’s action in Paris will feature Iga Swiatek, Daniil Medvedev, Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
