Top seed Novak Djokovic withstood an early challenge by Andy Murray before defeating the Brit for his eighth major title on Sunday in Australia, 7-6(5), 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-0. Striking 53 winners in total, Djokovic attacked Murray’s second serve relentlessly, allowing his opponent to win only 34% of his second serve points. Remaining undefeated in Australian Open finals at 5-0, Djokovic will now remain the heavy favorite to finish 2015 the No. 1 player in the world.
Regardless of his defeat, Murray will rise to No. 4 in the world when the latest rankings are released.
