Top seed Novak Djokovic overcame a two sets to love deficit to defeat Italian Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon on Tuesday. Needing three hours and 35 minutes to prevail, Djokovic advanced with a final scoreline of: 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Improving to 2-0 against Sinner in lifetime meetings, Djokovic will next face either No. 9 seed Cameron Norrie, who defeated former top tenner David Goffin 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Eleswhere, the Cinderella run of 34-year-old Tatiana Maria continued as she dispatched countrywoman Jule Niemeier 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 to reach the semifinals. Maria ousted No. 5 seed Maria Sakkari, No. 12 seed Jelena Ostapenko and No. 26 seed Sorana Cirstea en-route to the final four. The German will next face No. 3 seed Ons Jabeur, who dismissed Marie Bouzkova 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Wednesday’s action at Wimbledon will feature No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal vs. No. 11 seed Taylor Fritz, Nick Kyrgios taking on Christian Garin, No. 16 seed Simona Halep facing No. 20 seed Amanda Anisamova and Ajla Tomljanovic vs. No. 17 seed Elena Rybakina.
