Djokovic Defeats Rune to Reach Wimbledon Quarterfinals
Seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic took one step closer to his eighth title on Monday, defeating No. 15 seed Holger Rune 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
In a match that lasted two hours and three minutes, Djokovic slammed five aces, broke serve on four occasions and added 21 winners to his victory.
Improving to 4-2 against Rune in lifetime meetings, Djokovic will next face Alex de Minaur for a semifinal spot.
Djokovic had choice words for the crowd in Centre Court after his victory.

De Minaur reached the final eight after dismissing Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. The Australian seemed to injury his leg or knee on a match point against the Frenchman.
Elsewhere, Lorenzo Musetti reached his first Wimbledon quarterfinal after defeating lucky loser Giovanni
Mpetshi Perricard 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.
No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev failed to reach the quarterfinals after he lost to No. 13 seed Taylor Fritz 4-6, 6-7(4), 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-3.
Rybakina Rolls into the Quarterfinals
Former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina rolled into quarterfinals of the event on Monday, defeating Anna Kalinskaya 6-3, 3-0 retire.
Rybakina, who has lost one set en-route to the final eight, will next face Elina Svitolina for a place in the semifinals.
Svitolina dismissed Xinyu Wang 6-2, 6-1 in 55 minutes earlier in the day.
Other winners on the day saw No. 13 seed Jelena Ostapenko defeat Yulia Putintseva 6-2, 6-3. Putintseva ousted top seed Iga Swiatek in three sets in the third round. No. 31 seed Barbora Krejcikova also ousted No. 11 seed Danielle Collins 7-5, 6-3.
Tuesday’s action at Wimbledon will feature Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Jasmine Paolini and Lulu Sun.
Sun continued her fairytale run as a qualifier by defeated Emma Raducanu in the fourth round.
