No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic defeated top seed Rafael Nadal 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to capture his third Masters 1000 title of the year. Striking seven aces and winning 71 percent of his first serve points, Djokovic overcame the loss of the first set to secure his 19th victory over Nadal in 41 meetings. Recently injured during Monte Carlo Masters, Djokovic will now head into the French Open as a top favorite. With the loss, Nadal enters the second major of the year in the worst form that he’s had on the surface since 2005. The French Open starts May 26th.
