Unseeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov caused the upset of the day at the Rolex Pars Masters, ousting No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(2).
In a match that lasted two hours and 54 minutes, Dimitrov stuck 47 winners to claim his third win over Medvedev in nine encounters.
The 32-year-old will next face Alexander Bublik for a place in the quarterfinals.
Elsewhere, Botic van de Zandschulp continued his strong week in France by defeating No. 12 seed Tommy Paul 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. The Dutchman will take on No. 5 seed Andrey Rublev on Thursday.
In other matches, top seed Novak Djokovic made quick work of Tomas Martin Etcheverry, dispatching the Argentine 6-3, 6-2. Djokovic will meet Tallon Griekspoor on Thursday.
The last match on Wednesday in Paris saw defending champion Holger Rune easily dispatch former US Open winner Dominic Thiem in straight sets.
