Dimitrov Wins in Brisbane; Osaka Advances in Auckland
Monday’s action at the Brisbane International saw defending champion Grigor Dimitrov reach the second round, defeating Yannick Hanfmann 7-6(5), 6-3. The No. 2 seeded Bulgarian will next face Aleksandar Vukic for a place in the quarterfinals.
No. 3 seed and last year’s finalist Holger Rune crashed out of the event, losing 7-5, 6-3 to Jiri Lehecka. Rune had reached the finals in 2024, losing to Dimitrov.
Other results on the day saw No.8 seed Jordan Thompson surviving against Matteo Berrettini in three sets, while No. 6 seed Alejandro Tabilo was ousted in three sets by qualifier Benjamin Bonzi.
Nicolas Jarry, Alex Michelsen and Yoshihito Nishioka all reached the second round.
The doubles duo of Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios won their first match of the event, defeating Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies in three sets. Both Djokovic and Kyrgios will be in singles action on Tuesday in Brisbane.
On the women’s side, Ons Jabeur won her first match since Wimbledon , defeating Zheng Saisai 7-6(5), 6-4. Other winners on the day featured Anastasia Potapova, Yue Yuan, Anca Todoni and Polina Kudermetova.
Tuesday’s action in Brisbane will see top seed Aryna Sabalenka and No. 4 seed Paula Badosa in action.

Four-time former Major winner Naomi Osaka hit seven aces during her first-round victory at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand on Monday, defeating Lina Glushko 6-4, 6-4.
Osaka will next face Julia Grabher from Austria for a place in the final eight.
Other winners on the day saw No. 5 seed Clara Tauson, Nao Hibino, Rebecca Marino and Bernarda Pera all reaching the second round.
Tuesday’s action in Auckland will feature top seed Madison Keys, No. 2 seed Elise Mertens, No. 3 seed Amanda Anisamova and No. 6 seed Emma Raducanu.

Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open—Hong Kong
Monday’s results in Hong Kong featured No. 6 seed Brandon Nakashima and No. 8 seed Luciano Darderi both crashing out of the event.
Nakashima lost 7-6(3), 6-3 to Lorenzo Sonego, while Darderi was ousted 6-3, 6-3 by Miomir Kecmanovic.
Other winners on the day saw Cameron Norrie and Fabian Marozsan move into the second round.
Tuesday’s schedule of play in Hong Kong will feature Denis Shapovaolv and Juncheng Shang.
