Nitto ATP Finals—Turin, Italy
De Minaur Defeats Fritz at 2025 ATP Finals
Thursday’s results at the ATP Finals final in Turin, Italy saw No. 7 seed Alex de Minaur collect his first victory of the week, dismissing No. 6 seed Taylor Fritz 7-6(3), 6-3.
Needing one hour and 34 minutes to advance, de Minaur improved to 1-2 at the event.
With Fritz also standing at 1-2 in the Group Stages of the tournament, tonight’s encounter between top seed Carlos Alcaraz and No. 9 seed Lorenzo Musetti will be of more importance.
If Alcaraz wins, he’s into the semifinals and also clinches the world No. 1 ranking for the season.
Alcaraz has booked a second straight semifinal in Turin, but a win over Musetti is needed to claim the group, clinch year-end No. 1, and avoid a semifinal clash with Sinner.
A Musetti victory, however, would make him the group winner and send De Minaur home.
If Musetti wins, he also reaches the semifinals and will play for the biggest title of his career this weekend.
Friday’s matches at the ATP Finals in Turin will feature top seed Jannik Sinner taking on No. 5 seed Ben Shelton, and No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev facing No. 8 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Sinner is already qualified for the semifinals. The winner of Zverev or Auger-Aliassime will also advance to the final four.
Wednesday results saw Sinner defeating Zverev in straight sets and Auger-Aliassime needing three sets to oust Shelton.
