US Open champion Coco Gauff will join a stellar player field when the 2023 Bank of Communications Zhengzhou Open gets underway on 9th October.
The 19-year-old American sealed her status as one of the most exciting stars in world sport by winning her first Grand Slam singles title in New York earlier this month.
Coco Gauff said: “It’s been a huge summer for me and I’m excited to build on my US Open win and put in a really big finish to what’s been an amazing year. We always love playing in front of the Chinese fans so I’m really looking forward to that.”
Gauff, the World No.3, will lead a line-up that includes this year’s Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova, 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur and in-form Maria Sakkari.
Qinwen Zheng, who is on course to join Gauff among tennis’s brightest stars, is sure to have the crowds behind her as she bids for the prestigious WTA 500 title.
Fittingly, given the all-star roster of players at this year’s Bank of Communications Zhengzhou Open, the tournament will be held in a brand new venue including a state-of-the-art 5,000-seater stadium this year.
The new Henan Provincial Stadium Center also features a 2,000-seater Grandstand Court and extensive practice facilities.
