She will be replaced by Robillard-Millette

Bratislava, April 11, 2016 – Tennis Canada announced Monday that Eugenie Bouchard (Montreal, QC) will miss Canada’s Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II playoff tie against Slovakia in Bratislava this weekend due to the abdominal injury she suffered in Charleston last week. The world no. 46 will be replaced on the Canadian team by 17-year-old Charlotte Robillard-Millette (Blainville, QC) who will join Françoise Abanda (Montreal, QC), Sharon Fichman (Toronto, ON), and Aleksandra Wozniak (Blainville, QC).

“I am disappointed that I won’t be a part of the team, I was looking forward to defending my country’s colours and joining my teammates in Slovakia,” said Bouchard. “However, I need to take the time to heal my injury. I wish our team the best of luck.”

Bouchard sustained a left abdominal injury last week in Charleston. She was forced to retire from her second round match against Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino.

This is Robillard-Millette’s second Fed Cup nomination. She made her debut last year in Quebec City against the Czech Republic. The 17-year-old will be arriving from China where she finished third at the prestigious ITF Junior Masters over the weekend.
