Red-hot Italian Matteo Berrettini captured his third title of 2024 on Saturday in Kitzbuhel, Austria, defeating Hugo Gaston 7-5, 6-3.
In match that lasted one hour and 21 minutes, Berrettini used his potent serve to hit eight aces, win 80 percent of his first serve points and break the serve of his French opponent on four occasions.
Winning 10 matches in a row, Berrettini is now up to No. 40 in the world in latest rankings. The 28-year-old also claimed the title in Gstaad, Switzerland last week.
Berrettini, who was ranked as high as No. 6 in the world back in January of 2022, owns 10 career titles. He will now shift his attention to the hard-courts of North America and preparing for the US Open.
Gaston, who was playing in his second career final, defeated top seed Sebastian Baez in the quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old from Toulouse, France will be ranked No. 60 in world on Monday.
Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag—Umag, Croatia
Argentine Francisco Cerundolo won his third career title on Saturday in Umag, Croatia, defeating No. 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(5).
In a match that lasted three hours, Cerundolo hit 36 winners, struck one ace and broke serve on three occasions.
Musetti, who had an excellent grass-court season, recently made the semifinals of Wimbledon. The 22-year-old will move up to No. 16 when the latest rankings are released.
Cerundolo, who reached the fourth round of Roland Garros, defeated top seed Andrey Rublev in the semifinals.
The Argentine will be ranked No. 26 in the world on Monday.

Atlanta Open—Atlanta, United States
Saturday’s semifinal action in Atlanta, Georgia featured No. 4 seed Jordan Thompson reaching Sunday’s final.
Defeating Juncheng Shang in two hours and 21 minutes, Thompson will next face either Yoshihito Nishioka or Arthur Rinderknech in the Championship match.
Thompson will by vying for his second title on Tour. The Australian won his first career title in February in Los Cabos, Mexico. He also defeated Rafael Nadal in Brisbane, Australia to start the year.
The Atlanta Open will be held for the final time in Georgia in 2024.
