No. 4 seed Pedro Martinez captured his first career title on Sunday in Santiago, Chile, defeating No. 7 Sebastian Baez 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Using his baseline game to great effect, Martinez won 73 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on four occasions. Needing two hours and 48 minutes to prevail, Martinez will be ranked No. 50 in the world on Monday.
Baez, who was competing in his first ATP Tour final, dismissed No. 2 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the semifinals.
