Alcaraz Wins Rio Title; Norrie Captures Delray Beach Crown; Rublev Notches Marseille Title

No. 7 seed Carlos Alcaraz won his second career title on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, defeating No. 3 seed Diego Schwartzman 6-4, 6-2

Needing one hour and and 27 minutes to seal his victory, the 18-year-old star hit one ace and broke serve on five occasions.

Defeating both Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini on Saturday, Alcaraz continues to prove that he will be a top 10 player sooner rather than later.

Moving up to No. 20 in the rankings on Monday, Alcaraz will next see action in Acapulco, Mexico next week.

Schwartzman, who was attempting to win his fourth career title, recently made the finals in Buenos Aires, Argentina, losing to Casper Ruud.

Top seed Cameron Norrie won his third Tour on Sunday in Delray Beach, Florida, dispatching towering American Reilly Opelka 7-6(1), 7-6(4).

Using his world-class movement to great effect, Norrie overcame 25 aces and won 90 percent of his first serve points, while while never facing a break point. Improving to 2-1 against Opelka in lifetime meetings, Norrie will be ranked No. 12 in the world on Monday.

Opelka, who was aiming to win his second title in as many weeks, captured the crown in Dallas, Texas last weekend. The 24-year-old will be ranked No. 18 on Monday.

No. 2 seed Andrey Rublev notched his ninth career title and first of 2022 on Sunday in Marseille, France, dismissing No. 3 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-5, 7-6(4).

Using his powerful forehand to offset his inform opponent, Rublev won 71 percent of his first serve points and broke his opponent on four occasions.

Improving to 3-1 against Auger-Aliassime in lifetime meetings, Rublev currently stands at No. 7 in the world.

Auger-Aliassime, who won his first-ever title last week in Rotterdam, Netherlands, fell to 1-10 in Tour finals.
