Saturday’s action at the Western & Southern Open featured Carlos Alcaraz saving a match point to advance to Sunday’s final.
Prevailing by a scoreline of 2-6, 7-6(4), 6-3 over Hubert Hurkacz, Alcaraz will next face No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic, who dispatched No. 16 seed Alexander Zverev in straight sets.
Djokovic and Alcaraz recently faced each other in the Wimbledon final, with the Spaniard winning in five sets. Alcaraz also leads the pair’s head-to-head 2-1.
Elsewhere, American favourite Coco Gauff ousted top seed Iga Swiatek 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 to reach her second final of the Summer. The crowd favourite will next face Karolina Muchova, who dismissed No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-2.
Muchova has had a banner year, reaching her first Major final at this year’s French Open.
Gauff and Muchova have never played on Tour.
