No. 7 seed Caroline Garcia continued two struggle this season, losing 6-4, 6-1 to Wang Yafan.
During the night session, Venus Williams was ousted in straight sets by Greet Minnen and Carlos Alcaraz advanced when his opponent Dominik Koepfer was forced to retire in the second set with an ankle injury.

Wednesday’s schedule of play in New York will see Iga Swiatek, Novak Djokovic, Elena Rybakina and Casper Ruud all attempt to reach the round of 32.
