Alcaraz Escapes Tiafoe in Five Sets at Wimbledon
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz reached the fourth round of Wimbledon on Friday, defeating American Frances Tiafoe 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2.
Needing three hours and 50 minutes to prevail, Alcaraz slammed 16 aces, won 71 percent of his first serve points and broke serve on five occasions.
Adding 55 winners to his victory, Alcaraz improved to 2-1 against Tiafoe in lifetime meetings.
The recent French Open champion will next face No. 16 seed Ugo Humbert or Brandon Nakashima.
Elsewhere, No. 10 seed Grigor Dimitrov and No. 12 seed Tommy Paul both advanced to the sweet 16.

Andresscu Ousted by Paolini
Former US Open winner Bianca Andresscu was sent packing by recent French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini on Friday, losing in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-1.
In a match that lasted one hour and 31 minutes, Paolini used her court craft and strong footwork to reach the round of 16.
The French woman will next face No. 12 seed Madison Keys for a quarterfinal spot.
Keys ousted Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-3.
Other winners on the day included No. 2 seed Coco Gauff, No. 19 seed Emma Navarro, Paula Badosa and Lulu Sun.
Saturday’s action in London, England will feature Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek and Alexander Zverev.
