Victoria Mboko and Felix Auger-Aliassime Lead Canadian Contingent at 2026 Roland Garros

Alexis Galarneau, now in the third round of qualifying, seeks his first Grand Slam main draw

[TORONTO, ON] May 21, 2026 – The official draw for the 2026 edition of Roland-Garros took place
today, revealing the first-round matchups for the Canadians set to compete in the singles event in Paris,
France. The second major of the season will take place from May 24 to June 7, 2026.

In singles, at least five Canadians will compete in the event, as Victoria Mboko (Burlington, ON), Leylah
Annie Fernandez (Laval, QC), Félix Auger-Aliassime (Montreal, QC), Denis Shapovalov (Richmond Hill,
ON), and Gabriel Diallo (Montreal, QC) have secured direct entry into their respective main draws. Alexis
Galarneau (Laval, QC) will attempt to join this list, as he has advanced to the third round of qualifying and
faces Italy’s Federico Cina.

In women’s doubles, three Canadians will be in action, each seeded. Gabriela Dabrowski (Ottawa, ON)
will team up with Brazil’s Luisa Stefani as the No. 5 seeds, Fernandez and Diana Shnaider will be the No.
8 seeds, while Mboko and Alaxandra Eala of the Philippines will round out the group as the No. 12 seeds.

Victoria Mboko (World No. 9)

– This season, Mboko has reached the finals at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open (WTA 1000) and
Adelaide International (WTA 500), as well as the fourth round of the Australian Open.
– She qualified for her first Grand Slam main draw at Roland-Garros in 2025, reaching round three.
– The 19-year-old will face fellow 2006-born player Nikola Bartunkova of Czechia in the first round.
– Coincidentally, Bartunkova made her WTA 1000 debut earlier this month at the Italian
Open as a lucky loser after replacing Mboko, who was forced to withdraw from the event.
– Seeded No. 9, Mboko could face world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals.

Leylah Annie Fernandez (World No. 24)

– In 2026, 23-year-old Fernandez has reached three quarter-finals, including at the Mutua Madrid
Open (WTA 1000) in April.

– Her best results at Roland-Garros are a quarter-final in 2022 and a doubles final in 2023.
– The No. 23 seed will face American Alycia Parks in the first round – the pair have split their two
previous meetings. The winner could face four-time champion Iga Swiatek in the fourth round.

Felix Auger-Aliassime (World No. 5)

– Auger-Aliassime has a title under his belt this season at the Open Occitanie (ATP 250).
– Last month, the world No. 5 advanced to the quarter-final of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters (ATP
1000).
– He opens against Germany’s Daniel Altmaier, with the pair tied 2-2 in their head-to-head.
– As the No. 4 seed, Auger-Aliassime would not face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner until the semi-
finals.
Denis Shapovalov (World No. 37)

– Shapovalov’s season highlights include a semi-final at the Dallas Open (ATP 500).
– The 27-year-old will begin his campaign against a qualifier in the opening round.
– He could face No. 9 seed Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in the second round.

Gabriel Diallo (No. 48)

– Diallo has not played since his April 24 match in Madrid, where he retired due to injury.
– In February, the 24-year-old helped Canada defeat Brazil at the Davis Cup Qualifiers 1st Round.
– The Montreal native will face Australia’s James Duckworth in the opening round after losing their
only previous ATP-level meeting at the 2025 Almaty Open.
– However, Diallo did defeat Duckworth in qualifying at the 2022 National Bank Open
presented by Rogers.

Alexis Galarneau (World No. 194)

– This season, Galarneau reached his first ATP Tour main-draw match outside of Canada at the
BNP Paribas Open (ATP 1000).
– If he defeats Italy’s Federico Cina today, he will advance to his maiden Grand Slam main draw.

Gabriela Dabrowski (World No. 6 – doubles)

– Gabrowski and Luisa Stefani of Brazil have already teamed up to win a title this season at the
Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships (WTA 1000).
– Following that title run, the 34-year-old climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 2 in the world.
– She awaits the Roland-Garros doubles draw to find out her path to the title.
