Rolex Shanghai Masters—Shanghai, China
Saturday’s Preview in Shanghai and Beijing
Saturday’s action at the 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters will feature No. 2 seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner in his first match of the event.
Taking on Daniel Altmaier from Germany, Sinner will look to improve on his 1-1 series tie with his opponent.
Sinner is entering the event off of a title in Beijing, China.
Sinner is currently 1380 behind world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz and can not overtake the Spaniard even if he defends his title.
Other matches of note that will take place on Saturday will include No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev, No. 7 seed Alex de Minaur, No. 8 Lorenzo Musetti, and No. 9 seed Karen Khachanov.
On Friday, No. 4 seed Novak Djokovic, No. 10 seed Holger Rune, No. 20 seed Tomas MacHac and No. 21 seed Ugo Humbert all advanced to the round of 32.
No. 6 seed Ben Shelton, who was playing in his first tournament since injuring his shoulder at the US Open, was defeated by former top 10 player David Goffin 6-2, 6-4.
Goffin also defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of the Miami Open earlier this year.
